Content Marketing Event: Gilbane Conference 2013 Wrap Up

gilbanelogo

Digital thought leaders were in Boston this week at the 2013 Gilbane Conference – Content and the Digital Experience. Attendees got a taste of new marketing technology, content strategies and what to expect from the marketing world of the future.

I had the opportunity to hear Scott Brinker, Co-founder & CTO at ion interactive, host a Q&A with Mayur Gupta, Global Head of Marketing Technology & Innovation at Kimberly-Clark, and Sheldon Monterio, CTO at SapientNitro, who both spoke about the importance of user experience when it comes to marketing technology.

“The key is to shift the mindset to where every branch of the company is focused on user experience.” – Mayur Gupta

“We’re always doing good work, but if something isn’t innovating the customer experience, we don’t see it as great work.” – Sheldon Monterio

User experience plays a huge role in the digital marketing world. The more visually appealing, technologically adapted and easy to use your service is, the more satisfied your consumers are, and the greater your ROI will be.

I also had the opportunity to hear from Meghan Walsh, Senior Director, eCommerce Platform System Management at Marriott International, who spoke about the multichannel delivery movement and Jake Sorofman, Research Director, Marketing Leaders Research Team at Gartner, who presented on big content” and the impact content creation and curation has on marketers.

Getting content out with one-click to multiple channels can give you a leg up when it comes to your content strategy. Your readers are going to have different preferences when it comes to digital marketing, be it email, social media or blogs. Delivering your content to all these platforms reaches a wider audience. Congruently, the drive behind this customer experience is behind big content. Readers want more of this relatable, visual marketing content that adds value to their digital conscious.
