suggesting a circle of “micro” sites (like those link networks of pre-panda black hat days)? #dontdoit

You are suggesting using a non-branded site that is curated content to “gain a competitive edge” for your main site?

How does this curated non-branded site help you?
– SEO backlinks? I sure hope not.
– Brand awareness? Missing the connection.
– Build a community or list? Why not do that on your main site with landing pages and an effective email marketing campaign?
– The only thing I can think of is that you will use links in the site to some how drive traffic back to your main site. Seems like a terrible amount of work to try to get people to jump hoops (added clicks) to get to your main property.

Help me understand why it is good marketing counsel to leverage a non-branded curation microsite?

Like Robert said, many options exist for businesses and consumers. If your focus is building and monitoring a microsite, check out Microsite.com or WordPress. HubSpot COS is a bit different but might be worth looking into. If you want a microsite service and not just a tool, check out cc:Clients, Newsweaver, or IMN. These services work best for different market sectors. We hope our suggestions help you find the best fit for you and your audience!

WordPress is definitely an option. It’s very customizable, and the WP ecosystem is huge. LeadPages, I believe, is most often used for landing pages.

Something like WordPress, or there more dedicated platform / services to do this, something like Leadpages?
